The Co-operative Difference

The difference between UHW and developer/landowner-funded commercial archaeological units has mainly to do with corporate governance. UHW is governed by its members in the local community, and we have a commitment to operating as an ethical social enterprise for the advantage of the community. Our work is cultural heritage research-led rather than primarily aimed at fulfilling development planning requirements. We subscribe to the principles of ethical practice set out in the 2003 UNESCO convention on intangible heritage.

Uffington Heritage Watch Limited is registered (no. 7060) with the Financial Conduct Authority, under the Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act, 2014.
